Yes she did mention in an interview that thanks to her heritage she got on the show: Wizards of Waverly Place and she thanks her mother for letting her take the audition, and she also mentioned that she had lots of other careers in place and doctor was included in one of those choices. So I'm just guessing she probably wanted to be a doctor.
