How do you kill a night crawler earthworm?

Night crawlers are a sign of healthy soil. They help to loosen the soil around plants to provide oxygen. They also help to create fertilizer by consuming rotting material and turning it into work castings. However, they can be easily gotten rid of by using herbicides, pesticides, diatomaceous earth, or by spraying the soil with vinegar. This may kill the lawn too.
