What is conguntuvitis?

Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of the eyeball. It can be caused by infections (viral or bacterial), allergens, or irritants. Symptoms typically include redness, itching, swelling, and discharge from the eye. While often mild and self-limiting, some cases may require medical treatment, particularly if caused by bacteria.
