Craftsman lawn tractor mod 917.272751 that is leaking gas into the crank case?

Mine was doing the same thing; realizing that the fuel was flooding through the carb, I first cleaned the float bowl and needle valve; still did it! Most likely the electrical solenoid on the float bowl is sticking open, but it is about $60-70 part; I bypassed that issue by installing a manual fuel shutoff valve in the line just before the filter, and the problem is cured for about $8.
