What was Hernan Cortes's childhood like?

Cortés was born in 1485 in Spain, the only son of a family of limited wealth. He was a sickly child, but enrolled at the University of Salamanca to study law. However, Cortes disliked the rules of school and returned home 1501, craving a life of adventure. Three years later he embarked on a journey to the Americas.
