Who was the president of the US in 1861?

Andrew Johnson, the fourteen President of the United States, was in office from 1865 until 1869. Johnson was an avid follower of Jacksonian policies and was against secession. He was also the first president to have Congress pass legislation despite his veto on post-civil war policies.
