What moon occurs about 3 days before new moon?

For roughly the last 5 or 6 days before the New Moon, the "waning crescent"

moon rises in the east just before the sun, getting skinnier each morning than

it was on the morning before. The majority of normal people never see this,

because it's only visible just before sunrise.
