What is the greatest commandment and how do people react to it?

According to Mark 12:29-30 the most important commandment is to love God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all of your strength.

As far as how people react to it...it appears that most people in the world ignore it. For me the greatest commandment is Jesus' "Love thy neighbour as thyself" which I believe is also a part of Scriptures of all faith.

Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Sadly, when confronted by other faiths, most Christians mistranslates it as "Thou shalt love thy fellow Christians ...."

When not confronted with other faiths, but confronted with other denominations of Christianity, most Christians translate it as "Thou shalt love the members of thy denominations....."

I disagree that 'most' Christians do not follow these commandments. There are a minority of Christians who do not understand these and therefore give the remainder of Christians a bad name.
