The Canadian lynx has a life cycle that begins with mating in late winter to early spring, typically between February and March. After a gestation period of about 60 to 70 days, the female gives birth to a litter of 1 to 6 kittens in May or June. The kittens are weaned at around 8 weeks and begin to venture out of the den by 3 to 4 months, learning to hunt with their mother. They become independent by 6 to 10 months of age and may live up to 10 years in the wild.
