In the presidential election of 1960 there was some doubt regarding the accuracy of the popular vote in one of the states with enough electoral votes to change the outcome of the election. It was the type of situation for which the demand for a recount would have been appropriate, but Vice Pres. Nixon refused the recount and conceded the election to his friend Jack.
