What helps protect us from the coriolis effect?

The Coriolis Effect is that an object flying in the air for a long time will not land directly north or south of where it is flying. It is more simply the rotation of the earth underneath a hovering object. I don't know how you would be protected from it. Are you sure that this is what you are asking about?
