After WW2, Britain's Middle East Command was reformed as Middle East Land Forces.MELF commanded the forces in Libya (25th Armoured Brigade, which was later folded into into 10th Armored Div, until 1957, along with the 1st Infantry Div, 3rd Infantry Div, two armored regiments in the Suez Canal Zone until the early 1950s.In 1959 Middle East Land Forces was divided into two commands split by the Suez Canal. British Forces Arabian Peninsular was based in Aden, while Near East Command was based in Cyprus.
