What happened at the end of The Giver?

Lois Lowrly wants you to complete the story there really is no end to it she wanted you to create the end.

At the end, Jonas finds a sled and slides down a snow filled hill. He heres music.

I think that Jonas is still alive and is back at the community because he is getting the memory of music.

Jonas and Gabriel either died or entered the world where all of the memories came from.

I personally believe they did NOT die, but I personally like the idea of the memories.
