Taiwan is an MEDC because:
- Poverty is non-existent
- It is a democracy
- It has a tertiary-based economy e.g. high-tech software design
- Process of sweatshops enables growth and industrialisation e.g. ACER computers were invented here
- It has a low death rate
- Proof that it is still in development: the average wage is 10x higher than 40 years ago
- Land reform in the 1960's encouraged development
- Deregulated economy
- University education is now available- a factor that has helped Taiwan develop (it's improvement in the education system)
