In the US, Ovaltine is made and marketed by Nestle. From their website, http://www.ovaltineusa.com
"Before 2007, OVALTINE was owned by Himmel, and NESTLÉ is not aware of any recipe modifications made by the former company".
I still drink it and it tastes the same as always, but they've added a couple other flavors.
It's also made and sold, apparently, in the UK. Their website, http://www.ovaltine.co.uk, has lots of great historical information, but not much on US production...
1904 - Swiss chemist, Dr. Wander, invents Ovaltine
1909 - Ovaltine is launched in the UK
1913 - The first Ovaltine press ad appears
1919-20 Exports begin to Australia, then to India, South Africa and other parts of the British Empire
1932 - Ovaltine is served to athletes at the Olympic Games
1935 - The Ovaltineys make their first broadcast
1953 - Sir Edmund Hilary uses Ovaltine when climbing Everest
1974 - The Ovaltine 'lady' is reintroduced on new packaging
1997 - Ovaltine Power (Hot Chocolate) is launched
2005 - Max 4 Milk is launched
I believe it's still available in most US grocery stores. From the nutrition label, it's probably a good choice for adding to milk or even smoothies!
