What makes sealand not a country?

Sealand is not recognized as a country because it lacks formal recognition from established sovereign states and international organizations. It occupies a former military platform off the coast of England and does not meet the criteria for statehood, such as a permanent population, defined territory, and a government capable of engaging in relations with other states. Additionally, its claims of sovereignty have not been validated by international law. As such, it remains largely a self-declared principality with limited legal standing.
