Cheetahs eat primarily hoofed mammals weighing less than 90 pounds, including Gazelles and young wildebeest. They will also eat smaller game such as hares, warthogs, and birds.
A cheetah is a carnivore so it eats only meat. Depending on its habitat, its diet can change a little, but those that live on the grass plains of Africa eat small antelope, rabbits and other small mammals.
It is a carnivorous animal, so it hunts and eats whatever it catches: deer, buffalo, zebra, sheep, goats and even humans. A cheetah will NEVER eat what it doesn't kill.
Cheetahs are carnivores, which means they eat meat. They eat antelope, gazelles and other animals that weigh around 40kg. Cheetahs stalk their prey in the tall grasses where they blend in...not exactly camouflaging, just hiding.
When chasing their prey, cheetahs can get up to 65mph in just a few seconds! If the prey can stay alive for that long, the cheetah will get overheated and give up the chase. Not only that, but if cheetahs stay too long in open plains, other predators like lions can come and steal their food.
Hunting by vision rather than by smell, cheetahs take medium-sized mammals such as antelope, gazelles, young zebras and young wildebeests, guinea fowls and hares. These are the primary meals of the apex predator, keystone species, and highly-endangered cheetah.
