What was Hercules bad deed?

Hera sent a mad spell towards Hercules because she hated him. In this rage, Hercules slayed his wife, megara, and children. He wanted to be cleansed of this so he went to Delphi which in turn directed him to a Kim who dealt out Herc's labours.
