P 1294 registers and causes the MIL or check engine light to illuminate if the PCM (power control module) can not properly maintain a preset idle point withing 200 RPM(revolutions per minute). This can be caused by a faulty or sticky IAC solenoid (idle air control), or a vacuum leak and possibly various other factors.

In particular on a Dodge 3.3L there is a small 5/16 inch rubber hose about 5 inches long just below the throttle body. This connects to the throttle body directly. Due to heat and deterioration from age it can actually split on both ends allowing unwanted, and unfiltered air to enter the intake manifold, through the throttle body. Replacing this hose could eliminate the P 1294. I had this problem on a 2003 Grand Caravan with 120,000 km.
