If your problem is removal of the axle hub caps (eg) Heritage Springer FLSTS, they screw off. They should be only just tighter than hand tight. If not, use a set of pipe grips with a rubber wristband (You know the ones) ...or a rubber oil filter strap... around the cap to prevent marking the finish.

Raise the front of the bike of course....

Once they're removed along with the tear drop fender trim plates, I found it best to remove the front calliper via the two allen screws and securing it out of the way, tie it to your handlebar or something. On the right hand side of the axle (Looking from the rear of the bike) is the axle nut, secured by a split pin, remove that and the nut (15/16th inch spanner and socket) then using a rubber hammer, knock the axle through.

Make sure you note where the spacers etc fit on removal, then drop the wheel out. If in doubt, use a phone camera to take pics so you don't forget.

Re-assembly can be awkward single handed so get a mate to help or grow an extra arm. Re-grease the bearings and axle before re-assembly if required. Torque settings are per your user manual of course :)

Hope this helps mate,

Moley
