What happens when a jew is born?

Jews celebrate a child's birth as a personal/family affair. Far more important is the Brit Milah, or circumcision for Jewish boys, when the child is eight days old, or the baby naming, when a Jewish girl is given her Hebrew name in front of the congregation within her first month.
