What do you think critics of genetically modified foods might have in common with Rachel Carson?

The one commonality is probably an interest in preserving and protecting the environment. There are big differences, though. Just for starters:

• Ms. Carson had solid science to back her claims
• Her solutions were preferable to the alternative
• To the best of my knowledge, she wasn't a techno-phobe
