Was John born before Jesus

John the Baptist was older than Jesus by at least six months. Elizabeth was six month pregnant with John at the time of Mary's visitation of the Gabriel.

John 1:36 - Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.

John the Apostle on the other hand was younger than Jesus. It is generally accepted that John was the youngest disciple and is often portrayed as a beardless brown-haired youth little more than sixteen years of age.
