How do you throw the boomerang in a z shape in twilight princess?

I'm guessing your in the forest temple and are trying to open that gate with the propellers on top, well point your cursor over each propeller and select it with the z button in the order engraved on the floor and release the b button to throw the boomerang and open the gate.
