Yes there is a list, but if you don't research it, trust me they won't let you board the plane with it. Some items: any size knife, toenail clippers, BOTTLED WATER, replica toy guns, knives, anything that even hints of a possible weapon. Short answer: they let you take anything safe that will pass through the ex-ray machine. Most allow you one carry on that can be eaisily stored in the overhead bin, and also one private item that can eaisly fit under the seat in front of you, such as a small laptop or a purse or small backpack.
