What makes a jet plane move quickly?

as air goes into a jet engine it is compressed by rotors and forced through a smaller areas. if you take a lot of air, force it through a small hole you get thrust. after it goes through this first stage of compression, it is then mixed with jet fuel and ignited, then compressed some more, then forced through smaller holes and out the back.
