This is from what I remember but don't base everything on my answer. Most of this depends on your metabolism and basically how much you need to consume I believe partially based on your BMI. So it truly depends on who you are. Gender, height, active or not, ect. Now I'm not a doctor or anything close but I just saw some articles and 1200 calories seemed to be the magic number. As for the walking part, it seems pretty healthy to me as long as you stay hydrated and don't deprive your brain of water then I'd say it's great. Also keep good posture when walking instead of just swinging one leg in front of the other. Make sure your consciencely putting an effort to walk.
