Do engagement rings come with other stones besides diamonds?

An engagement ring can have any stone or stones that are meaningful to the bridal couple. You may have to either have a ring custom designed, or have your jeweler replace the diamond(s) with the stone of your choice. I will offer an opinion regarding other stones: Discuss with your jeweler the relative hardness of the replacement (colored ?) stone. A softer stone may need a special setting. An engraved band ring might be a better choice, with the softer stone being set in a special pendant. Diamond, Ruby and Sapphire are hard stones.
