Spiro Agnew was succeeded by Gerald Ford as Vice President of the United States. Ford was nominated by President Richard Nixon and confirmed by Congress after Agnew resigned in 1973 due to charges of tax evasion and corruption. Ford later became President after Nixon's resignation in 1974.
