How have events challenged that view of Karl Marxs?

Present day socialists and communists are not regarded as successful. Partly because the steps to the perfect economy are impossible to attain. In otehr Words, the last step in attaining a socialist economy is to become a communist economy, which means the military who trying to gain control of the economy would need to give up power. Currently, no governments have done that. Russia and China are two examples. They are not regarded as good places to live. This gives a bad rep to the term socialist.
