Why can you see the entire half of the moon during a full moon phase?

During a full moon phase, the Earth is positioned directly between the Sun and the Moon. This alignment allows the sunlight to illuminate the entire face of the Moon that is visible from Earth, making it appear fully lit. Consequently, we can see the entire half of the Moon that is facing us, while the other half remains in shadow.
