What were challenges George Washington encountered during his eight years?

George Washington encounter many challenges with the fledgling nation after it won its independence from the British. He used his popularity and public confidence to convince the people that a strong centralized government was needed. He also was faced with the national debt, attacks by Native Americans, and the already building tension between the north and south.
