Why did the WPA stop?

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) effectively ended in 1943 as the United States shifted its focus to World War II efforts. The wartime economy led to a decrease in unemployment and a need for workers in defense industries, diminishing the necessity for New Deal programs like the WPA. Additionally, funding for such programs was redirected towards the war effort, leading to the gradual dissolution of the WPA.
