Hi: The answer to your question is simply,,,, NO!,,, Any well designed and installed Air Conditioning Cooling unit will not leak Refrigerant (freon) as a norm. One particular and unscruplous contractor in my area was big on beefing it up to people that used him that replacing refrigerant in your system and adding to it for normal leakage was normal. Needless to say, he lives in a big house. Wanna hear something kinda fundy? I still occassionally service a 70 year old refrigerator that actually has never had any refrigerant added to it even. And believe it or not,,, its refrigerant media is sulfer. Kewl huh !!!!! Hope this helps: Jimiwane
