There are technically only 5 branches of the Armed Forces, of which 4 are considered to be Military.

4 Branches of the Military:

US Army

US Navy

US Air Force

US Marine Corps

Considered apart of the Armed Forces:

US Coast Guard (Controlled by the Department of Homeland Security)

There are, however, seven uniformed branches of service: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Public Health Services, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
