Global warming began affecting us with record warm temperatures and retreating glaciers in the 1980s.
Although we cannot point to any specific storm as a result of global warming, overall the violence and intensity of storms (though not necessarily their frequency) is expected to increase. Warmer oceans will provide more energy for hurricanes. Hotter temperatures will also increase desertification in many areas. Much of the central and western US is currently suffering from a prolonged drought, largely the result of anthropogenic global warming.
