How is Atticus Finch kind?

Atticus is always very kind and courteous to the people of Maycomb. He doesn't hold grudges, is highly intelligent, and treats everybody well. An example of Atticus being courteous is in the courtroom, when he always calls Mayella 'Miss Mayella' and is extremely polite (to the point that Mayella believes that he is mocking her).
