Can you drive your van if the thermostat is broken?

That depends. If the thermostat is stuck shut. the engine will overheat and damage can occur. If it is stuck open you can drive for a while without hurting anything, however. you may not get any heat and driveability problems may crop up because of misreadings of coolant temp sensor.
