In 1587 Mary Queen of Scots (the Second cousin of Queen Elizabeth) was executed at Fotheringay Castle. Mary went to England as she was being attacked by the scottish as they believed that she killed Lord Darnley. So she went to see Elizabeth her second cousin for help. She didn't know what to do with her so she locked her up in a castle so that she could think. It took her 18 long years to dedcide that she would execute her.
