If someone was abused as a child (which is somebody under the age of 18) then you can place charges against the abuser at any age in your life.
Many victims of child abuse don't report the crimes until they are in their adult life, through fear of the person who abused them. But as they grow older, their confidence grows, increasing the chances of them reporting the abuse.
So, if you were abused under the age of 18, you can report it as child abuse no matter how old you are now. If you were abused over 18, it is still illegal, but is the abuse of an adult rather than a child.
If you were abused, I do advise you to try and report it as soon as you can. You will recieve police protection and you will recieve any treatment you require, whether physical or psychological. The sooner you report, the sooner you can prevent other youngsters going through the same.
