It is important to know that you are not guaranteed a federal tax refund. If you believe you will receive a refund after filing your taxes, you can check your status about three days after you file to confirm whether or not your file was accepted or not from the IRS if you do it online or a couple of weeks if you mail it in. You can go to "where's my Refund" on the IRS website to track your refund as well. Refunds generally take longer to receive the closer to tax deadline (April 15th) as well.
