Is it legal for someone to give you the finger?

Just recently, July 2009 An upset motorist in Ontario Canada made this gesture to a police officer soon after being issued a speeding ticket. The offending motorist was immediately charged with improper hand signal under the highway traffic act and a judge upheld the violation, the motorist was fined $58.00. Now that was creative thinking on the officers part "Go ahead punk, make my pay!"
