What are Patrick Stewart's religious beliefs?

Very little is known about James Maitland Stewart's religious affiliations. He was one of the last great "gentleman" actors and preferred to keep his personal life private. However, he was born to a devoutly Presbyterian family and Stewart was one of the most public supporters of both the Boy Scouts and the Republican Party, so it's safe to say that he was a conservative.
