Can you work in shops in fable?

In Fable 1 and Fable TLC you can steal from the shops. In Fable 2 you can get jobs in a couple of places. The blacksmiths will hire you to forge sWords. You can be a woodcutter or a bartender. The lower levels not pay too well, but as you progress you get more gold. The higher levels are a good way to make a quick few bucks.
