Modern
architecture is no longer influenced by the Romans much. It was
until the early to mid-20th century. Successions of European
architectural styles were influenced by Roman architecture:
Renaissance (15th and 16th centuries) Baroque (17th to early 18th
centuries), Rococo (18th century) and Neoclassicism (late 18th to
20th century). These styles were popular for public buildings,
palaces, mansions and town houses for the rich and well-to-do. The
Neoclassical style is still sometimes used.
