Is there a large amount of terrorism in Spain Is politicalor social unrest confined to a small geographical area or spread throughout the country?

Spain has had troubles with a low intensity campaign of terror waged against it by Basque separatists. The last major terror attacks against Spain were conducted by Al Qaeda in the 2004 Madrid Bombings. Political demonstrations against the global financial crisis, sovereign debt and austerity measures have been limited to major cities but again violence has been very limited. Spain remains a very safe and secure European Union member state for family travel.
