This depends entirely on your religion and Church.

In the Roman Catholic Church for example, gay people are welcomed into the Church and encouraged to take part in the Sacrament of Penance (for forgiving sins), as long as they are celibate. Some people find this highly offensive and do not go to church in the first place.

My advice would be to go to a Church that is gay-friendly and accepts your sexual orientation. There is no point wasting your time in a Church that does not accept you for who you are and keeps forcing you to change yourself.
