Quartz is the single mineral that is most common in the crust. In total volume, the various types of feldspars are the most common, but they vary somewhat from each other in their chemical properties.
Silicate minerals (quartz, feldspars, micas, hornblende, olivine, etc.) are composed of the elements silicon and oxygen - plus other elements - and are the most common groupof minerals in the crust.
