What are the similarities and differences between animals that can fly and animals which live on the ground?

Specifically between birds/bats and land animals, they possess the same number/types of bones in their wings and forearms, although shapes may vary. Insects however developed flight in a different way, therefore, their are very few similarities, even in methods of achieving lift.
