Wait as long as possible before you start Surfing after getting the piercing. Water is FULL of bacteria so it increases your risk of infection. You can wear water-proof bandages to stop the piercing from getting too wet and to provide protection against hitting it. Be sure to rinse it with a saline solution as soon as you can after surfing.
